Rural Health Training Centre Palghar, a distinguished Government hospital and training institute, operates under the esteemed Grant Government Medical Colleges and Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals in Mumbai. Established on November 9, 1956, this institution has been a cornerstone of healthcare and education in the region. In 1948, the Shrimati Ramabai Dandekar Mother Child Care Center emerged as the first nursing home in Palghar, operated by the Bombay Mother and Child Welfare Society. In 1956, recognizing its significance, the hospital was generously donated to the Grant Government Medical College, Mumbai. Since then, it has been dedicated to the dual mission of providing top-notch training and healthcare services to the populace.
Post-October 1961, significant strides were made in infrastructure development, with the establishment of office buildings and hostels tailored to accommodate medical students. This period marked a pivotal moment in the center’s evolution, solidifying its role as a premier institution in medical education and patient care.

The unit is headed by Dean of Grant Government Medical College Dr. Pallavi Saple, Head of the Department of Community Medicine Dr.Geeta Pardeshi, and Associate Professor Dr. Rakesh Waghmare.The healthcare staff at RHTC Includes Assistant Medical Officer, Lady medical officer, Dental surgeon, nursing staff, sanitary inspector, and lab technician. RHTC serves as a primary training centre for students of Grant Medical College Mumbai,offering them hands-on experience in community medicine and public health.
